be inspired: Lucia Liencres

Balance- a term that is often tossed around, but is seldom thoroughly explained. You may achieve balance through various aspects of your life, whether it be through nutrition, exercise, or spirituality, or a yoga pose- but maintaining balance may not come as readily as you want it to. Finding what works best for your individual body and soul through challenging yourself, as well as not beating yourself up for not taking perfect care of your body at all times, are central to Lucia Liencres’ health philosophy. Lucia, a yogi through and through, makes an effort to take in every moment, but never fails to indulge in chocolate when need be.
Read on to see what gets Lucia up at 6:30 every morning!

Tell me a bit about yourself. Who you are and what do you do?
I am Lucia Liencres, a yoga and life student living my life, traveling and enjoying teaching in my yoga studio, The Class, in Madrid.

What time do you usually wake up in the morning?
6:30 am

What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Chocolate smoothie with almond milk, cashews, dates and cinnamon. Masala chai tea and a toast.

How did you begin practicing yoga?
I began practicing with my great aunt because I had a lot of back pain due to my work. I was a lawyer.

What is your favorite type of yoga and why?
I love Ashtanga yoga. Is the most challenging for the body and the mind. It teaches you to work and have discipline in your life and live without an ego.

What is your health philosophy?
Take care of your body because is the temple of your soul.

Do you meditate? If so, what are the benefits you have received?
Yes. It has taught me to live in the present moment and be grateful for what I have.

What motivates you to live a healthy lifestyle?
I love to feel good every day and enjoy every moment. I live to feel light and energized.

What’s the one beauty product you can't live without?
If I have to choose one, coconut oil.

What does your fitness routine look like?
I practice ashtanga yoga 6 days a week and yin yoga 3-4 days.

Do you have a mantra that you live by?
Se como tu quieras, which means, be as you want to be.

Do you have cheat days/meals? If so, what is your indulgence?
Yes, Chocolate ;) I really love it.

What do you think is the key to living a healthier life?
Find your balance and start making changes slowly but consistently.

What does your morning routine look like?
In the morning I do yoga and meditation for 2 hours, then I shower, eat a healthy breakfast and head off work.

Do you have any self care rituals?
Coconut oil on my skin.

Do you have any tips for any beginners who want to begin practicing yoga?
Respect your bodies, practice every day, don’t try to achieve goals quickly and always leave the ego outside or your practice. I also recommend looking for a teacher until find you find someone you connect with and remember the yoga mantra: do your practice and all is coming.

What do you think is the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle for the long term?
Be balanced and don’t be too extreme with anything. Have an ice-cream if you want, a pizza, a day doing nothing, have some party time… but then balance it out by taking care of yourself.

What do you know now that you wish you knew five years ago?
Nothing. What I know now is the result of what I have been working on the last five years. Everything happens for a reason and in the perfect moment ;)
